Summer Tour
Street Theatre Summer Tours
Summer is generally a fairly quiet time in our local theatres, so for several years now, Street Theatre has worked on the basis, that if people won’t come to the Theatre, we’ll take the Theatre to the people.
So that’s what we do.
It’s an opportunity to let a wider audience, and a wider collection of performers get to know each other, and for both Street Theatre and other organisations to boost their funds.
Street Theatre do all the tricky stuff. We chose a production that can be toured, do all the rehearsals, come to you and put the show on.
We do all this for a modest fixed fee aimed at covering our costs. Most performing rights fees have more than doubled over recent years, and even the most obscure play can easily cost £75 a night just in rights.
The promoters of the show, then just have to book the location, and sell the tickets. Maybe organise a bar, a raffle, a game of pin the blame on the politician (a bit like pin the tale on the donkey, but much more challenging), and whatever else.
Hey presto, a jolly enjoyable evening, fun all round, a bit more in the coffers, and who knows, maybe a few more people with an interest in live theatre.
Your organisation might be a PTA, a local charity, a school, a village hall, or even a pub with an upstairs room.
Summer 2010 we are looking forward to touring
Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood, directed by Lois Harbinson.
10th to 12th June 2010 and 17th to 19th June 2010 – 7.30pm
So if you’d like us to bring the show to you,
